Two new public spaces aimed at the community were inaugurated this Thursday, in the town of Almancil, an initiative of the Loulé City Council and the Almancil parish council, as part of the program commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.
On Rua Poeta Aleixo, a renovated intergenerational space for staying and socializing was created, the Village Garden.
This recreation and leisure area has been redeveloped and now includes new equipment, namely exercise machines and a new floor in the playground.
According to the municipality of Loulé, in addition to improving the level of security and aesthetics of the site, the aim of this intervention was to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle with the paving of an area extended to outdoor activities (e.g. zumba, crossfit, etc.).
It should be noted that trees were also planted which, over time, will provide more shade to the space.
Already in Garden of Communities, the lung of Almancil and the town’s social center, the municipality created a new recreational area in the northwest part. More equipment for children to play, with the expansion of the age ranges for which they are intended, improvement of the pavement and reinforcement of the trees are the main elements of this work to requalify the public space, designed by the young architect Sara Nunes.
The president of the parish council of Almancil, Joaquim Pintoon the occasion, gave brief words of circumstance and thanked the Loulé municipality for this work that was “an aspiration of many people over time”.
“Our work is for people, but if those people are children the pleasure is even greater because it is a joy to see children jumping and laughing”, highlighted Victor Aleixo in relation to this requalification.
On this opening day, many children wanted to open the park for the first time and the joy of the young ones, between laughter, laughter and lots of fun, reigned on this sunny afternoon in which freedom was celebrated.
It should be noted that the investment in the total of the two spaces – Jardim da Vila and the Jardim das Comunidades playground – amounted to 180 thousand euros. “Since 2013, Almancil has changed very quickly and for the better”, said the mayor of Loulé, also announcing that the inauguration of a large-scale project is soon to take place – the Multipurpose Pavilionwhich will be called “25th of April Pavilion”, as Vítor Aleixo assured on this day.
