Chega announced, this Sunday, that next week, it will present in Parliament a formal vote of condemnation of the President of the Republic after the statements about colonial reparation.

The party also says it will call Paulo Rangel, minister of foreign affairs, to Parliament.

“Following yesterday’s words from the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, reinforcing the idea of ​​reparation due to the Portuguese colonial past, even stating that Portugal should lead this process, CHEGA will submit next week, in the Assembly of the Republic, a formal vote of condemnation of the President of the Republic and the words he spoke, which undoubtedly represent a betrayal of the Portuguese people and their History Despite the note sent today by the Prime Minister’s office, CHEGA will, nevertheless, to call the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Parliament, to understand if there is any type of contact on this matter with the Portuguese-speaking States or any specific request addressed to the Portuguese State”, reads the statement to which the CM had access.
