O leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Luís Montenegro, stated this Sunday that the “first challenge” to be faced in the European Elections concerns “the mobilization and awareness” of voters, taking into account that they take place in the “worst day for Portugal”, June 9th, on the eve of two important holidays: June 10th and 13th.

“We have to raise awareness to use the instruments that the law provides, namely early voting. The Government itself will carry out a campaign to raise awareness among the Portuguese”, he stated, in a closing speech at the University of Europe, at the Curia, remembering that this is a “a week suitable for rest and vacation”.

There is also the “challenge” of raising voters’ awareness of the “importance of European women” because “much of what happens in Portugal comes from decisions that are taken in the bodies of the European Union (EU) and in the European Parliament itself”.
