More than two hundred activists and supporters of the Socialist Party had dinner, last night, with the son of the ‘historic’ socialist Mário Soares, João Soares, in an event reminiscent of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April. A moment that the party structure led by Filipe Silva took advantage of to pay homage to around fifty activists since the ‘carnation revolution’.
«It is recognition for the work done, for democratic courage and for the resistance and affirmation of the values of April, freedom and equality», said the president of the socialist council of Vila Verde, Filipe Silva.
«Above all, we celebrate April with those who were part of that moment and we add gratitude for what they did and for the freedom and values of April», he added.
At a dinner attended by some local PS figures, another national figure was joined, João Soares, son of Mário Soares, one of the ‘unavoidable’ names of the 25th of April.
«It is pleasing to realize that the fundamental lines of his thought and action for freedom, human rights and solidary progress continue to be affirmed in the PS, but not only that, as the values of the 25th of April 1974 must be the flag of this Europe that is going through such a difficult time, with the war and the very serious international crisis that we are going through», said João Soares.
