Two new public spaces aimed at the community were inaugurated on April 25th in the town of Almancil, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Revolution.

A renovated social space was born on Rua Poeta Aleixo, Jardim da Vila. The area has been redeveloped and has new equipment: exercise machines and a new floor in the children’s playground. “In addition to improving the level of safety and aesthetics of the location, this intervention was intended to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle with the paving of an area extended to outdoor activities (zumba, crossfit)”, explains the municipality in a statement. Trees were also planted to bring shade to the space.

In Jardim das Comunidades, the “lungs of Almancil” and the town’s social center, a new recreational area was created with more equipment for children to play, widening the age ranges for which they are intended, improving the pavement and reinforcing the trees. . Architect Sara Nunes was the author of the project.

Joaquim Pinto, president of the Almancil parish council, states that the work was “an aspiration of many people over time”. “Our work is for people, but if these people are children the pleasure is even greater because it is a joy to see children jumping and laughing”, highlighted Vítor Aleixo, mayor of Loulé.

The total investment for the two spaces was around 180 thousand euros.

“Since 2013, Almancil has changed very quickly and for the better”, highlighted the Mayor of Loulé, announcing that the inauguration of a large-scale project in the parish, the Multipurpose Pavilion, which will be called “Pavilhão 25 de April”.
