The PSD was in Porto Moniz this Sunday morning, where it said it was possible to see, up close, the differentiating policies that have driven the development of the North Coast of Madeira.

According to Valter Correia, spokesperson for this initiative, “the harmonious development of the entire Region has always been one of the main objectives of the governance of successive PSD governments.” The deputy and candidate also highlighted that “the focus was really on the infrastructure of the entire territory, where high investments were made and continue to be made in terms of equipment linked to health, education, the road network and also housing, among others.”

In this context, the initiative’s spokesperson welcomed the fulfillment of yet another commitment by the Regional Government, regarding the deepening of social and economic cohesion across the entire regional territory, namely through the implementation of differentiating policies for the municipalities of the North Coast.

The social democrat said: “I note that it is in the municipalities of the North Coast, namely Porto Moniz, São Vicente and Santana, where companies pay the lowest IRC rate in the entire Portuguese territory (8.75%)”, highlighting the importance of this measure to strengthen local companies and attract new investments, thus boosting the economy and creating new business opportunities.

Furthermore, the candidate for the next regional elections highlighted the policies of positive discrimination in terms of housing, such as the PRAHABITAR program and the PRID (Program for the Recovery of Degraded Properties), which have benefited the populations of the municipalities of the North Coast, providing access privileged for the acquisition and restoration of housing.

According to Valter Correia, “we believe and are convinced that, with these two policies combined, and with more employment and easier access to housing, the population in general, and young people in particular, will find the conditions to settle in the municipalities where they were born and, thus, rejuvenate the demography of the municipalities”.

The PSD thus reiterates its commitment to continue working for the equitable and sustainable development of the entire Region, promoting policies that value and benefit all communities, especially those on the North Coast.
