Ovibeja, celebrating its 40th anniversary, opens tomorrow, April 30th, at the city’s Fairs and Exhibitions Park, where it runs until Sunday, May 5th, organized by ACOS- Associação de Agricultores do Sul.

Rui Garrido, president of the Association, says that he expects “a great fair, which will have close to a thousand exhibitors, in the most diverse areas”. In addition, there is also “a vast program of lectures like we have never had, and the 10 years of Cante Alentejano as a UNESCO heritage site will be marked, with four or five Alentejo fashions that will be sung in unison, by close to 900 singers”.

This year, Fundão Chamber is the guest region of the event. “This year we resumed what was done a few years ago, because we always had a guest region and, this year, we invited the Câmara do Fundão as a guest, as a result of the good relationship we maintain”, he adds.

Ovibeja also has a musical lineup “like you’ve never seen before”, guarantees Rui Garrido. The president of ACOS says that there will be a thematic exhibition, alluding to the 40th anniversary of the event, which “remembers people and events, as well as the evolution of Ovibeja over the years”.

Explaining that this year, the chosen theme is related to associations, Rui Garrido considers that “there is still a lot to do, in this sense, because there is a need to increasingly be together to defend the interests of this class”.

Tomorrow, present at the inauguration, will be the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro. However, other members of the Government and opposition parties are present during the event, to whom ACOS seeks to “expose the reality of the agriculture sector, the problems experienced, as well as the solutions we have to resolve them”.

The opening of Ovibeja is scheduled for tomorrow, at 11 am. Tomorrow, the Calemas will pass through the competition stage; on Wednesday, Buba Espinho, on Thursday, Lucky Duckies, on Friday, UB40 and, on Saturday, Ana Moura.
