The Fafe City Council opens the Estação da Memória cultural facility in May, a space that resulted from the recovery of the old railway station warehouse deactivated in 1986, now transformed into a museum center for the city.

According to information from the municipality, three contiguous blocks were added to the old warehouse building, where a gallery for exhibitions and an auditorium with 100 seats were created, in the shape of a railway carriage.

Each of these blocks displays the past, present and future of the city and the municipality, using objects and images from times gone by, but also digital technologies designed for interaction with visitors.

“In this ‘station’ of culture and tourism there is a place for the presentation of local products and crafts, as well as for tourist promotion”, highlights the municipality.

In the space dedicated to the past you will find objects and technologies that project relevant personalities in the history of the municipality.

In the second carriage, the present one, there will be cinema projection equipment, allowing visitors to travel through emblematic sites in the municipality, with many references to the Rally of Portugal, the Queimadela dam, the wind farm and the Santa Rita hydroelectric plant.

In the third carriage, that of the future, the theme of environmental sustainability and renewable energy resources will be presented, with an interactive game.

An exhibition of contemporary art has already opened at the Estação da Memória gallery alluding to the creative journey of Orlando Pompeu, an artist born in Fafe.
