The ten years since Cante Alentejano was elevated to Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is the theme of the Beja City Council’s stand at the 40th edition of Ovibeja, which kicks off today at the city’s Fairs and Exhibitions Park.

In the municipal space, located in the Institutional Pavilion, a tavern was recreated with “an old counter and floor”, explains Paulo Arsénio, president of the Bejense municipality.

The mayor reveals that images of Alentejo landscapes will be projected on the walls of the stand throughout the six days of the event.

Paulo Arsénio says that “the space is not limited to the recreation of the tavern”, adding that there will also be an imitation of a group of singers where up to four people will be able to take photographs.

Another highlight of the stand is a screen that plays lyrics of Alentejo fashions, for anyone who wants to sing.

During the first four days of the fair, the stand offers moments of live Alentejo singing between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

In addition, they joined the municipality’s stand, a group of five wineries from the municipality that will, throughout the event, present their wines.

Paulo Arsénio talks about a differentiating space that hopes to be one of the great references of this edition of Ovibeja.
