Two Vice Champions for Vila Real in the National karate

The National Karate Championship for the Beginners and Youth groups took place in Ponte de Sor, last weekend, the 27th and 28th of April.

All athletes from the country and islands participated in this event, a total of around 600 Karatekas.

The athletes from the Vila Real Karate Academy once again performed at a high level, with excellent results.

Two national runners-up and two thirds places, were AKVR’s results in this national.

The National Vice-Champions were, Nuno Azevedo juvenile -40kg and Rodrigo Lopes juvenile +60kg, in third place, Leonor Macedo Iniciada -54kg and Marta Mourão Juvenil -55kg. All with a performance of enormous technical and tactical knowledge, carrying out excellent fights showing that any of them could have reached the highest place on the podium. The progressive development that this Vila Real academy develops not only in the sports training panorama, but also socially, training young people with values, disciplined, enterprising and resilient, is demonstrated.

The athletes who did not obtain podium results, despite being the first time in a National Championship, already demonstrated very interesting behavior in technical skills, displacements and distances, behaviors essential for their sporting and competitive development.

Congratulations to all the athletes and technical team for the good performance demonstrated once again and for dignifying the name of Vila Real so well in yet another National Championship of the sport.
