The Municipality of Lamego has just launched a pilot project to collect bio-waste in the municipality.
In a first phase, small seven-liter containers are being made available in homes covered by this campaign.

In the public space, 800 liter containers will be placed for the disposal of organic waste, while, for the horeca canal, 120 and 240 liter containers are planned to be delivered.

At the same time, the municipality is promoting door-to-door awareness and adherence visits to residents of the areas covered, to present the project, with the delivery of explanatory leaflets.

Under the motto “+VALUE, Together we will generate more value for the environment”, the pilot project covers the urbanizations of Nossa Senhora da Saúde, Monsanto, Franzia, S. Vicente and the city’s horeca canal (restaurant sector, municipal canteens, cafeterias and similar).

Its main objectives are to reinforce the recycling and recovery of bio-waste, reduce the amounts of waste deposited in landfills and promote the circular economy, contributing to the achievement of national recycling targets and carbon and climate neutrality.
