Barreiro promotes information session on ‘Self-protection Measures: Fire safety in buildings’

The Barreiro Municipal Civil Protection Service, in partnership with the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, promotes an information and clarification session on Self-Protection Measures within the scope of legal fire safety obligations in buildings (Legal Regime and Technical Regulation) , next day May 8at 9:45 am, in the auditorium of the Escola Superior de Tecnologia do Barreiro.

The entry into force of the Legal Regime for Fire Safety in Buildings created obligations in terms of maintaining safety conditions, throughout the life of the building, imposing the implementation of the so-called Self-protection Measures.

Self-protection Measures define a set of procedures for using the different spaces of the building, in order to maintain safety conditions, in order to provide an adequate response in an emergency situation, limiting the risks of fire.

In accordance with the Legal Regime for Fire Safety in Buildings, all buildings, establishments and premises must, in the course of their operation, be equipped with organization and safety management measures – Self-protection Measures.

Responsibility for implementing MAPs and maintaining safety conditions against fire risks, throughout the entire life cycle of buildings or premises, lies with their owner or whoever owns their operation.

The target audience is responsible for: CMB services; educational establishments (all schools, public and private, kindergartens, daycare centers); Health centers; Residential Structures for Elderly People – Homes; Associations and Collectives; IPSS and commercial and industrial establishments.
