After losing by one vote two years ago, Nuno Santos is once again running for leadership of the Municipal Political Commission, with several people on his list who were with Álvaro Madureira, former president of the structure who, in the meantime, asked for his resignation. This time, Nuno Santos will face Arlindo Brites, former president of the Junta do Arrabal who, as JORNAL DE LEIRIA reported two weeks ago, is also a candidate for the elections, to be held this Saturday, the 4th.
Speaking to JORNAL DE LEIRIA, Nuno Santos says that the decision to run again for leadership of the council “came from the will of many activists”, who challenged him to come forward with an alternative candidacy. “In the last two years there has been a distancing of the council from the militants. It is necessary to resume this proximity”, claims the social democrat, who also highlights the need to “rejuvenate” the structure, “with new ideas and new people”, also coming from outside the intricacies of politics.
