The Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo is officially an associate member of the largest association of Higher Education Institutions in Brazil, was announced today.

FAUBAI – Brazilian Association of International Education already has more than 200 members and the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo is one of them. It is the second polytechnic higher education institution in the country to join FAUBAI.

Adhesion was recently approved, with the presence of the vice-president of the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo, Ana Paula Vale, at this year’s edition of the event, which took place from the 20th to the 24th of April, in São Paulo, and which was attended by more than 600 participants from all over the world.

For Ana Paula Vale, “this joining FAUBAI as an associate member reinforces the work that has been done over the last four years”.

“During this period, the IPVC has significantly reinforced its internationalization strategy in a broad geographic scope and, very particularly, with Portuguese-speaking countries, working to guarantee the impact of established partnerships, foster opportunities for student mobility in contexts and realities different from those in Europe and also encourage , the mobility of teachers”, he said, cited in a statement.

The presence at the FAUBAI Annual Conference, the largest and oldest higher education internationalization event taking place throughout Latin America, once again emerged as an “important opportunity for the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo to strengthen partnerships and establish new contacts and cooperation protocols, with a view to developing not only mobility programs, but also joint degrees and double degrees, which make it possible to encourage the mobility of teachers and students, as well as joint research and publication”.

But the Polytechnic of Viana do Castelo is already thinking about the future, focusing the next steps on identifying priorities, selecting strategic partners and developing joint projects.

“Erasmus+ made an important contribution to the internationalization process at a global level, by allowing the management of a percentage of the budget outside Europe, but we need to take bolder steps, namely with greater openness of ICM – International Credit projects Mobility – for important areas and countries, such as those in South America and other CPLP countries, such as Timor-Leste”, added Ana Paula Vale.
