Labor Day will be celebrated with multiple activities | Funchal News | Madeira News – Information for everyone for everyone!

Labor Day has a wide program of activities, informs the Regional Secretariat for Inclusion and Youth.

At 12 noon, the Monument to the Madeiran Worker, located on Avenida Sá Carneiro, hosts the traditional ceremony of laying flowers. This is a ceremony to pay homage to Madeiran workers, presided over by the secretary of supervision, Ana Sousa, and which will be attended by the Regional Directorate of Labor and the Regional Directorate of the Regional Authority for Working Conditions, representatives of Employers’ Associations and Unions.

Meanwhile, during the day, there will be multiple activities promoted by sports associations, which have the support of the Regional Government.

Also noteworthy is the highlight of the celebrations, more precisely, the Labor Day commemorative concert, scheduled for 9 pm, in Parque de Santa Catarina with a performance by international artist Cuca Roseta, accompanied by the Banda Militar da Madeira, under the baton by Maestro Lieutenant Luís Afonso.

Before, at 7 pm, the well-known Madeiran band Pilares de Bânger takes to the stage, with a repertoire made up of original songs.

The concert has free entry and the doors to Parque de Santa Catarina open at 6 pm.

12:00 – Tribute to the Madeiran Worker – Laying of flowers, next to the Monument to the Madeiran Worker – Avenida Sá Carneiro.

Activities promoted by sports associations:

9:15 am to 10:30 am – “Madeira a Correr” Athletics Competition – Grand Prize 1st of May – RAM Athletics Association, in partnership with the Ribeira Brava City Council, starting next to the Church, on Regional Road 104. Awards at 10:45 am.

1:00 pm – Football Tournament “Professor Eleutério d’Aguiar – 2024 Edition – Commemorating the 99th anniversary of Clube Desportivo 1º de Maio. Prize delivery at 1:30 pm (time to be confirmed).

5:00 pm – Madeira Regional Motocross Championship 2023 – Pista das Carreiras – Camacha. Prize giving at 5pm (time to be confirmed).

10:00 am to 6:00 pm – Opening of the Montado do Pereiro leisure area

The Montado do Pereiro leisure area will be available to the public, with a picnic area and the usual food and drink stalls.
