The Battle of Flowers filled the center of Barcelos with color today, in what is one of the highlights of the Festa das Cruzes.

Rain threatened, but ended up giving respite to the parade which, this year, had as its theme the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April.

Thousands of visitors, many of them from Galicia, on what is known in Barcelos as ‘Spanish Day’, watched the parade with a record number of participants ‘fighting’ with petals.

The Festa das Cruzes continues until Sunday with several highlights.

At night, Xutos & Pontapés perform at Frente Ribeirinha and on Thursday it is the turn of fado singer Ana Moura.

On Friday, a municipal holiday, there is the Grand Procession of the Invention of the Holy Cross (4:00 pm), which brings together the crosses of the 89 parishes in the municipality. In the evening, a concert by Fernando Daniel was scheduled, but it was canceled due to the artist’s illness, who has pneumonia. Ivandro will be the replacement.

On Saturday, the highlight will be the Quatro e Meia concert (10pm).

And the party ends on Sunday with the highlight being the ethnographic parade (4:00 pm).
