Rally de Portugal is an “excellent” tourist product for Central Portugal

Turismo Centro de Portugal, ACP – Automóvel Club de Portugal and the municipalities in Central Portugal that are hosting this year’s Vodafone Rally de Portugal signed last Tuesday, in Figueira da Foz, the program contract that formalizes the passage of test in the region.

Jorge Sampaio, member of the executive committee, represented Turismo Centro de Portugal at the event, which took place at Casa do Paço, and considered the event to be an “excellent” tourist product.

“The Rally de Portugal is an excellent tourist product, which attracts a huge number of people to the Central region of Portugal, from outside and inside the country, with an impact on the regional economy. On the other hand, the rally creates emotional bonds between people, in each of the places it passes through. And these emotional bonds are essential for tourism, because they make visitors want to return to where they were happy. For all this, Turismo do Centro could not fail to be present at this rally”highlighted Jorge Sampaio.

The director of Turismo do Centro added that it is thanks to the joint effort of several entities that the region has been able to host the Vodafone Rally de Portugal year after year: “The possibility of hosting the rally results from something we are very used to doing, which is working together. Turismo Centro de Portugal, the CIMs, the various entities and municipalities in the region have this ability to come together and work together”.

Also present at the ceremony, the president of the ACP, Carlos Barbosathanked the efforts made by the municipalities to host the competition. “I thank the Chambers for the effort they have made every year to maintain the rally in the Central region. The support of the Chambers is very important for the rally to be consolidated in this territory”highlighted Carlos Barbosa.

They signed the program contract, in addition to Jorge Sampaio and Carlos Barbosa, the ACP operations director, João Mendes Dias, and the mayors representing the municipalities. The Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2024 has its ceremonial start in Coimbra, scheduled for 5pm on May 9th, followed, on the same day, by the opening super special, in Figueira da Foz, at 7:05pm. On the 10th, the rally will have two passes through the Mortágua, Lousã, Góis and Arganil sections, all in Central Portugal.
