On the 18th of May, former students from the 1969/74 course at the Faculty of Law of Coimbra will meet to celebrate 50 years since their graduation. The meeting, which marks the 43rd year of annual meetings, is a moment of reunion and conviviality between former colleagues, which extends beyond the borders of the legal profession.

The tradition of meeting annually began in 1980, on the initiative of Macedo dos Santos, a lawyer in Coimbra. Since then, with the exception of the years marked by the pandemic, meetings have been a constant, both in the city of Coimbra and in other locations where former colleagues live.

To mark this special occasion, the event program is diverse and full of significant moments. The meeting will take place in the emblematic Páteo das Escolas of the Faculty of Law, followed by a coffee in the “Bar dos Direito”. The morning will continue with a mass in the Chapel of the University of Coimbra, celebrated by Father Nuno Santos, and a presentation of greetings to the Rector.

One of the highlights will be lunch at Quinta da Sobreira, in Ançã, where participants will be able to enjoy a carefully selected menu. The meal will be accompanied by a performance by a group from the Coimbra Music Academy, promising moments of joy and nostalgia.

During the afternoon, a presentation by the group ADVOCAL is planned, followed by a more relaxed moment at sunset at the residence of colleague Luiz Cabral de Moncada.

The event also has the honor of being attended by prominent figures from the course, such as the former president of the Republic of Cape Verde, Jorge Leal Fonseca, who will be present on the day of the celebrations.

In addition to highlighting the professional achievements of some of the former students, it is important to highlight the spirit of camaraderie and friendship that persists among all participants, maintaining contact that transcends the barriers of time and distance.

Those interested in participating must register by May 10th. The price per person is 40 euros and includes all activities scheduled for May 18th.

For those who wish to extend their stay in Coimbra, an optional lunch is planned on Sunday, the cost of which will be borne by each participant.
