The Amarante Municipal Assembly approved, by majority, the 2023 Management and Accounts Report, a document that, according to the municipality, “reflects the balanced management that has guided the executive’s actions”.
According to the accountability report, in 2023, the Municipal Council of Amarante had a positive budget execution, with all validated invoices received by December 31st having been settled, which according to the president of the municipality, José Luís Gaspar “in addition to representing another indicator of the balance of municipal finances, it also represents a strong contribution to strengthening the liquidity of companies supplying the municipality”.
The municipality also highlights the budget execution rates with regard to revenue equivalent to an execution rate of 96.44%, and an unused debt rate of 60%.
President José Luís Gaspar concluded by saying that “this financial situation allows us, with all determination, to continue in 2024 to materialize the defined development strategy, in order to take advantage of and enhance the available resources, particularly within the scope of Portugal 2030 and PRR, always maintaining rigorous and responsible management in the municipal executive, in order to safeguard the balanced financial situation”.
Municipal accounts, in addition to verification by municipal bodies, are audited by the Official Auditor, assessed by the Court of Auditors and the General Directorate of Local Authorities.
