Albufeira City Council will promote, from the 10th to the 14th of May, in the Municipal Auditorium, six clarification sessions on the application of the tourist tax.

The morning actions start at 11 am and run until 00 pm, for those responsible for the hotels. In the afternoon, those responsible for local accommodation will be divided into two groups, one for the session from 13pm to 00pm and the other for the session from 14pm to 00pm.

Albufeira is one of the most touristic municipalities in the country, having more than 150 hotel units and more than nine thousand local accommodations.

The tourist tax will begin to be applied, from the 21st of May, in Albufeira.

According to José Carlos Rolo, president of the Chamber, although tourism promotes economic and social development, «it also implies an overload of public action and the provision of municipal services itself, which is why it is essential to have a capacity to respond to the extent of growth. demand, as well as assuming the best strategies to allow the development of a sustainable, adequate and infrastructured environment».

The mayor adds that the Municipality of Albufeira intends to invest in projects relating to the following areas of activity: accessibility and enhancement of the coastline, actions in the context of climate change, sustainability and mobility, support for relief and emergency forces, support for health , heritage culture and promotion of cultural and sporting activities, tourism promotion, tourism enhancement actions, maintenance and conservation of infrastructure in tourist areas and development of new tourism products.
