All athletes from the country and islands participated in this event, a total of around 600 karatekas.

The athletes from the Akademia de Karate de Vila Real once again had “a high level performance, with excellent results, with two national runners-up and two third places”, says the club in a statement.

The national runners-up were Nuno Azevedo youth -40kg and Rodrigo Lopes youth +60kg. In third place were Leonor Macedo Iniciada -54kg and Marta Mourão Juvenil -55kg. “All with a performance of enormous technical tactical knowledge, carrying out excellent fights showing that any of them could have reached the highest place on the podium”, highlighted the club, adding that “the progressive development that this Vila Realense academy develops not only in the panorama of sports training, but also social, training young people with values, disciplined, enterprising and resilient”.

The athletes who did not obtain podium results, despite being the first time in a National Championship, already demonstrated very interesting behavior in technical skills, displacements and distances, behaviors essential for their sporting and competitive development.

Access to most VTM news is (still) free, but it is not free, journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way of directly supporting A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our counterpart is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It means continuing to inform despite all the contingencies of confinement, without having stopped for a single day.
