The Penacova City Council will promote a walk “between beaches”, on May 12th, starting in Porto da Raiva, as part of the Blue Flag 2024 Program. For the 2024 edition, the theme is “The sea needs leaders ”.
According to a statement sent to Rádio Boa Nova, the initiative aims to raise awareness in society of the need to protect the environment and encourage the carrying out of actions leading to the resolution of existing problems, starting with alerting the need to change behaviors and habits.
Throughout the year 2024, the Penacova Chamber launched a set of themed walks through the municipality’s territory, with a view to promoting physical activity and discovering the territory, exploring the different corners, while enjoying walks associated with culture, heritage or traditions.
It should be noted that the river beaches of Reconquinho and Vimieiro were once again awarded the Blue Flag, a symbol of environmental quality, safety, well-being, support infrastructure and environmental awareness, and are the stage for some of the environmental education activities in the edition 2024.
