A National Monument since 1910, Penela Castle received an intervention to requalify the surrounding paths. The investment by Penela City Council was inaugurated on April 25th, by the president of the municipality, Eduardo Nogueira dos Santos, shortly after the solemn commemorative session.

With this intervention, the municipality of Penela intends to make the historic center of Penela more lively and attractive, both for daily passersby and for visitors to the Castle, intervening and reformulating the surrounding space, adapting it to the new demands for mobility in public spaces. , namely the adequacy of sanitary facilities for restricted mobility.

The total investment was more than 400 thousand euros, with financing under the Regional Operational Program of the Center 2020 of €330,404.82 (ERDF).
