This Thursday, the Government proposed a mission supplement for members of the PSP and GNR of between 365.13 and 625.94 euros, meaning an increase of up to 75 euros, revealed the president of the Association of Guard Professionals.

César Nogueira said that this new mission supplement, which is based on the base salary of the commander-general of the National Republican Guard, will replace the current supplement for service and risk in the security forces.

At the end of the meeting with the Minister of Internal Administration, the president of the Association of Guard Professionals (APG/GNR) classified this first Government proposal as “very bad”, indicating that the elements of the security forces would, with this, have a increase up to 75 euros.

According to the proposal presented to the GNR’s five socio-professional associations, officers would receive a mission supplement of 12% of the base salary of the GNR general commander, which is 5,216.23 euros, while the percentage for sergeants is 9 % and for guards 7%.

“These numbers are quite insufficient and it is a proposal far below what we were expecting,” said César Nogueira, noting that a counter proposal will now be presented at the May 15 meeting.

The president of the APG considered the value presented for the guardianship “negligible” and does not believe that there is “a large margin” during the negotiations.

“The Government’s proposal divides professional categories into categories: guards, officers and sergeants. That alone is a mistake because the risk is the same for everyone. The risk cannot be divided into categories. We are not pleased with this proposal. 7, 9 and 12%. In some cases it gives a lower value than what is earned by each professional”, he stated.

César Nogueira maintained that he was “stunned” when the minister presented the proposal, stressing that it will be “very difficult to contain the indignation of professionals”, but has not moved forward with protests yet.

The president of the GNR’s most representative association also considered that the minister “is unprepared for the role she is holding”.

The president of the National Association of Guard Sergeants, Ricardo Pires, also considered that the value of this first proposal was “clearly short”, classifying it as “unacceptable”.

“In some cases it doesn’t amount to an increase of 75 euros”, he said, citing as an example the case of a soldier in a guard post who currently receives a supplement for service and risk in the security forces of 285 euros and will now earn a mission supplement of 365 euros.

Ricardo Pires stated that GNR soldiers feel “distressed and poorly treated”.

César Nogueira and Ricardo Pires reaffirmed that the GNR military requires a mission supplement identical to that which the previous socialist Government attributed to the Judiciary Police, which in some cases was an increase of 700 euros.

The current supplement for service and risk in the security forces that PSP and GNR members receive has a variable component that corresponds to 20% of the base salary and a fixed component of 100 euros.

The Minister of Internal Administration is presenting today to the PSP unions and socio-professional associations of the GNR the proposal to grant a subsidy to members of the security forces.
