Cristina Mota, spokesperson for the Missão Escola Pública movement, also admits that “teachers feel some frustration with Miranda Sarmento’s statements that refer the beginning of the recovery of service time to 2025”. And she issues a warning: “Teachers are paying attention and have their eyes on the Government and the unions. The issue of 6 years, 6 months and 23 days must be resolved immediately, otherwise, if this does not happen, teachers will see in the current Government the continuation of the disrespect and lack of consideration that they have been feeling over the last two decades ”.

The person in charge recalls that the recovery of service time “was a campaign banner for the current government”. “Teachers, and society in general, hope to see the promises that were made fulfilled and this is at the top of what was proclaimed by the current prime minister, having even mentioned on several occasions that it was a measure he presented even before know the electoral scenario. Well, it’s time to show, to those who voted for him and beyond, that he is a man of his word and that he did not intend to deceive anyone, much less those who are in schools every day promoting ethics and training new citizens”, he highlights.

For Cristina Mota, the beginning of the recovery of service time “is the first step towards achieving the peace and tranquility in schools that everyone is looking for”. However, if the current ME team continues with the stronghold that marked the previous PS legislature, troubled times are expected. The Public School Mission says that it will support and reinforce the forms of struggle that the unions define, such as strikes, and will also promote its own actions in order to maintain the protest on the streets and outside schools, alerting society, and the Government, to the urgency of defining measures that provide tranquility and serenity to schools.

“Among the actions may be concentrations, demonstrations and marches, as well as actions of reflection and awareness in society. In parallel, continue to expose the fallacies and lies that occur, as happened with the previous government and proceeds in the same way with this one, as the Public School Mission is not interested in politicians or ‘the color’ of the government, it is only interested in educational policies ”, he emphasizes. The Public School Mission requires the definition of the calendar for the recovery of service time, with a first tranche later this year, which should not be less than 30 percent. “Given that we had presented two years as the time in which the recovery of service time should take place, that is, 50% per year, we understand that this first tranche should never be less than 30% of the frozen time”, he explains. Cristina Mora also argues that, on the negotiating table, there should be the abolition of quotas for career advancement.
