The arrest of a 17-year-old Portuguese young man in the north of the country who created and managed a Nazi group on the Internet where participants were incited to commit violent crimes will have prevented a series of crimes, namely the murder, in Brazil, of a beggar, who would be broadcast online. This was revealed this Friday by the national director of the Judiciary Police, Luís Neves, to the media at the end of the military ceremony marking the 113th anniversary of the GNR.

Luís Neves explained that within that group, which operated on the Discord platform, the murder of a beggar was being prepared “with long-lasting hints of suffering” and that it would be broadcast on the Internet, with those watching having to pay a certain amount to see images of the crime to be committed.

The national director of the PJ stated that suspicions regarding this case reached that police in December last year and highlighted the “time-consuming and filigree work” that was necessary to carry out to identify the boy detained this Thursday, in an investigation that included with the collaboration of foreign police, namely the Brazilian one, and IT platforms. “He was looking for a needle in a haystack”, summarized the leader.

This group, according to Luís Neves, would be made up of “dozens” of “extremist and violent” young people who survive in the anonymity of social networks, but in the real world live isolated and demonstrate antisocial behavior. “He is the only Portuguese person identified at the moment. This young man had enormous leadership capacity to be able to move other young people of the same age, especially Brazilians, to radicalize others, to self-mutilate, to commit mass crimes and homicide crimes”, said the national director.

The head of the PJ highlighted that it was this group that was behind a shooting attack on the Sapopemba State School, in the East Zone of São Paulo, last October, which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old student and the injury of three others students.
