Ovibeja will celebrate 40 years with Red Red Wine from UB40 today, May 3rd. The legendary English reggae band comes to Portugal to perform at the event organized by ACOS – Associação de Agricultores do Sul.
With several concerts scheduled in some of the main European capitals, in Portugal UB40’s performance takes place only in Ovibeja. “A privilege for a fair that has always stood out for its boldness, innovation and cultural commitment”, considers the fair’s organizers.
And he guarantees that the commemorative edition of the 40th Ovibeja “is exceeding the organization’s expectations in relation to the number of visitors. Even on weekdays, the public turnout has been higher than expected and the evening concerts have always been full houses.”
It should be noted that Ovibeja this year has two stages. The Sagres stage for concerts from the World to Ovibeja and the “Filhos da Terra” stage from Beja to the World, with late afternoon concerts, between 6pm and 9pm. On the night stage, on Saturday night, the focus will also be on another landmark concert, the performance of Ana Moura.
On Saturday afternoon, Ovibeja will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Elevation of Cante Alentejano to Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity with the presence of around 1500 singers from almost 100 choral groups.
For those who do not yet have an entry ticket to Ovibeja, the organization suggests purchasing them online, to avoid queues, through BOL and Worten, FNAC and CTT and also through the Ovibeja website.
With regard to parking, the organization suggests following the information signs for alternative parking options. Parque Flávio dos Santos (paid), about 500 m from the Ovibeja enclosure, is one of the possibilities, through the Melius roundabout in the direction of Fialho de Almeida.
