IPDJ Faro | “BeActive Awards” Applications until May 24th

The prizes BeActive Awards 2024, awarded by the European Commission, aim to reward and publicize projects, notable initiatives and inspiring individuals, who stand out in the field of participation in sport and physical activity, as well as promoting and encouraging the practice of more active lifestyles.

There are four distinct categories in which you can compete, namely:

• BeActive Education Award – Aims to demonstrate that through education, children can be encouraged to be active outside conventional places for sports.
• BeActive Workplace Award – Aims to reward exemplary projects that seek to make the workplace a more active place, with more active employees. Initiatives before, during and after working hours can be included.
• BeActive Local Hero Award – Aims to recognize personalities who have consistently worked to promote participation in physical and sporting activities within the local community.
• BeActive Across Generations Award – Aims to reward projects that promote intergenerational sport. It may include promoting activities adapted to all generations, raising awareness of healthy lifestyles, as well as easier access to sport and physical activities for all generations.

In addition to seeing their work recognized internationally, the winners in each category receive a monetary prize worth €10,000, and there are also prizes for 2nd and 3rd place, worth €2,500.

To access the application submissionyou must first create an account and register the organization/person you wish to apply for.

With the account created, the application form can now be filled out according to the desired category.

Over the last few years, Portugal has been awarded in the different categories of this Award, namely:

• 2017 – Jorge Pina – Local Hero Winner
• 2021 – Greater Porto Intermunicipal Waste Management Service – 3rd place Workplace
• 2023 – Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira – Across Generations Winner
