The automobile market in Portugal grew between January and April, with 89,415 new vehicles put into circulation, announced ACAP — Associação Automóvel de Portugal
“From January to April 2024 alone, 89,415 new vehicles were put into circulation, which represents an increase of 13.4% compared to the same period of the previous year”, indicated, in a statement, ACAP.
In April, 20,895 cars were registered, that is, an increase of 14.3% compared to the same month of the previous year.
By category, in the first four months of the year, there were 76,373 registrations of light passenger vehicles, 11.8% more than in the same period last year.
“From January to April 2024, 52.2% of new registered passenger vehicles were powered by other types of energy, namely electric and hybrids,” said the association.
In turn, the light goods market increased by 28% in the first four months of the year, totaling 10,625 units.
The heavy vehicle market, which includes passenger and freight vehicles, registered 2,417 units, rising 7.9% compared to the first four months of 2023.
