Portugal makes History at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships

With the second day of the European Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championship over, the junior gymnasts achieved brilliant results.

In the collective competition, Portugal qualified in 14th place with 134,763 points. A historic result considering that the best national record was in 2004 when the team came 15th in the European Championship.

Individually, in the All-Around, Joana Reis was 36th in qualifications (44,899 points), Rita Ferreirinha 39th (44,732 points) and Núria Emídio 68th (42,299 points).
In Jumping, Joana Monteiro was ranked 41st (11,666 points), Joana Reis was 44th (11,533 points) and Núria Emídio was in 45th place (11,433 points). Rita Ferreirinha did not perform the two Jumps, so she was not classified in the apparatus.

In the Asymmetric Parallels, gymnast Clara Justo ranked 30th (11,000 points), Rita Ferreirinha ranked 36th (10,733 points), Joana Reis ranked 45th (10,466 points) and Núria Emídio ranked 86th (9,266 points).

On the beam, Clara Justo reached 54th place (10,966 points), Rita Ferreirinha 59th (10,833 points), Joana Reis came in 69th (10,633 points) and Núria Emídio in 89th (10,200 points).

And in Solo, Joana Reis came in 33rd place (11,800 points), Núria Emídio in 62nd (11,400 points), Rita Ferreirinha ended up in 67th (11,300 points) and Joana Monteiro in 96th place (10,600 points).

The Portuguese Delegation is under the command of Artur Pereira (Head of Delegation), also counting on coaches José Ferreirinha (National Coach), Sara Nabais, Susana Teixeira and Joana Carvalho, judges Liliana Rodrigues and Susana Benigno and physiotherapist Beatriz Almeida. The competition takes place between May 2nd and 5th in Rimini, Italy.
