Chamusca lives Ascension until the 12th (with Photos)

The redeveloped Largo 25 de Abril, in Chamusca, hosted the official opening ceremony of the Festa da Ascensão 2024, “the biggest week of the year”, this Saturday afternoon, as stated by the Mayor of Chamusca, Paulo Queimado.

The mayor, in his intervention at the opening of the event, highlighted the importance of the event for the local economy, which has a large part of its business there, and which during the nine days of Ascension is promoted to the thousands of visitors who flock to the village called from “Coração do Ribatejo”.

Also regretting that accessibility continues to be a serious obstacle to the development of the municipality of Chamusca, at a time when there is so much talk about Territorial Cohesion, Paulo Queimado praised the work of the territory’s economic agents, who have to work twice as hard to achieve results that they would have if the accesses were those that have been promised for a long time.

Paulo Queimado then praised the work carried out, both in the requalification of the historic area of ​​the county seat parish, and in areas such as education, where 6 million euros were invested in the requalification of the Main School, the new Health Center and investment in people , carried out in the Social area, with the municipality of Chamusca being one of the few in the country to have two social innovation incubators.

The requalification works in the area surrounding the Chamusca Town Hall building also promoted some changes to the event’s costume. The space dedicated to crafts, which also includes a secondary stage, is now adapted, as well as the space for bullfighting starts and activities.

Paulo Queimado ended his speech by leaving an invitation to everyone to visit Chamusca every day, but especially on Ascension Thursday, this year on May 9th, the day on which the traditional bullfighting takes place, an activity always witnessed by thousands of enthusiasts.

It should also be remembered that the Ascensão 2024 program has as its main attraction the concerts of Soraia Ramos (the 5th), Orquestra Tipica Scalabitana (the 6th), Rita Rocha (the 7th), Carlão (the 8th), Romana (the 9th ), GNR (10th), Bárbara Tinoco (11th) and Chamusca Cantada (12th).
