The PSP says it will reinforce patrolling and policing in the city of Porto, after the house where a dozen Algerian immigrants live, in addition to a Venezuelan woman being attacked by a group of six hooded men, armed with bats, knives and a gun of fire on Friday.

A Renaissancethe security force spokesperson says that the measure is taken to “prevent and dissuade” against the repetition of this type of occurrence.

The Porto PSP confirmed to the Renaissance three situations of aggression against immigrants in the early hours of Friday alone. According to the city’s district command, one of the situations occurred after the invasion of a home. Six men were identified and one person was arrested – a man with Portuguese nationality – who had a baton in his possession.

In this context, SOS Racismo announces for this Saturday, at 10 pm, at Campo 24 de Agosto, in Porto, an action of solidarity with the attacked immigrants.

“We are witnessing militia practices motivated by racial and xenophobic hatred, typical of far-right murderous groups. We cannot return here – ever again!”, reads the SOS Racismo statement in which it describes that “these groups act in concert , because they feel legitimized”.

The Commission for Equality and Against Racial Discrimination (CICDR) – responsible for applying the Law on preventing, prohibiting and combating discrimination, on grounds of racial and ethnic origin, color, nationality, language, has been at a standstill for six months ancestry and territory of origin, reported this Saturday by “Público”.

The CICDR was linked to the High Commission for Migrations (ACM), which merged with the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) into the Agency for Integration, Migrations and Asylum (AIMA) since October 29, 2023.
