Salvaterra de Magos Volunteer Firefighters welcome new cadets and promote firefighters (with photos)

The Salvaterra de Magos Volunteer Firefighters welcomed 18 new firefighter recruits and 10 members who completed their recruitment. The solemn ceremony, held at the corporation’s headquarters, took place on Saturday, May 4th.

In addition to the arrival of new recruits and the incorporation of those who completed their recruitment, 10 members were promoted to the category of second-rate firefighter and Luís Viegas was promoted to chief, the top of the firefighter career.

The Salvaterra de Magos Volunteer Fire Brigade is made up of around 60 members and has grown noticeably, in a countercycle to what has been seen in the vast majority of fire brigades in the region, where there is an increasing lack of of staff.

The commander, Paulo Dionísio, recalled that in 2019 the corporation had only 19 firefighters, having grown exponentially. To NS Paulo Dionísio says he does not know what makes the Salvadoran corporation different from others, but says that the corporation is “very well organized, we have a very cohesive, very strong management group, which works daily with the command team”.

Regarding the command team, the commander praises the work performed. “the command has a larger state that we are always interconnected with. We meet every day. We are present with everything to improve the fire department and this has been evident in the growth”, he emphasizes.

Luís Martins, president of the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Salvaterra de Magos, says that the good work done by the corporation is a key factor in the growth in the number of elements.

“It’s a good business card for anyone who wants to be a firefighter” highlights the president.
