The National Police Union accuses the Government of manipulation and of presenting an “absurd proposal”.
The president of the union, Armando Ferreira, says that professionals will lose money and that the Executive’s statement does not fully correspond to what was presented in meetings with the sector.
In an interview with SIC Notícias, he puts on the table the possibility of the unions not attending the next meeting with the Government, on April 15th.
“We have to reassess whether it makes sense to go to a meeting with a Government that continues to insist on a proposal that is absurd.”
Armando Ferreira even states that, if the Government does not present a “worthy” proposal, the police will “have to take to the streets”.
The statements by the president of the National Police Union come after the Government’s guarantee that no PSP or GNR professional would lose money with the proposal for the mission allowance.
This was the response to the platform of PSP and GNR unions and associations, which said that some professionals would lose income.
The Government guarantees that the accusation is false. It says that all guards and police officers will receive a raise of at least another 1,050 euros per year.
Last Thursday’s meeting between the Executive and the security forces ended without an agreement. The unions classified the proposal as undignified and offensive.
