At 56 years old, and fighting an extremely rare autoimmune disease, Celine Dion is once again showing signs of life. The Canadian artist, who put her career on hold after receiving, in 2022, the diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome – which affects eight thousand people worldwide – gave an interview to the French magazine ‘Vogue’, which made the cover. And all to ensure that, despite there being no cure for the illness that afflicts her, she decided to fight her symptoms with “all forces”.

“I decided to give myself to the recovery of my soul and heart”he revealed. “I want to be the best version of myself that I can, because I want to see the Eiffel Tower again”he stated. “I know nothing will stop me, not even this disease”he assured.

Stiff Person Syndrome causes muscle spasms and stiffness and can lead to loss of mobility. In the singer’s case, it is causing her difficulty in walking and preventing her from using her vocal cords normally. “At first, I used to ask myself: But why me? How did this happen to me? What did I do? It must be my fault. But then I came to the conclusion that life doesn’t give us answers. We have to to live…”

Talking about a hypothetical return to the stage – which he says he dreams about every day – he admits that it is too early to talk about it. “Will I be ready in four months? Right now I think so, but I can’t be sure. My body will decide.”
