GNR detects more than 400 road infractions during the last week in the Algarve

In the last week of April 29th to May 5th, the Faro Territorial Command of the Republican National Guard (GNR) carried out a series of operations in the district of Faro, Algarve region, which aimed to prevent and combat violent crime , road inspection, among others, having detected more than 400 road infractions.

Specifically, the GNR detected 402 infractionshighlighting 120 due to speeding, 40 due to lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 29 related to anomalies in lighting and signaling systems, 13 due to lack of civil liability insurance, 12 due to lack of or incorrect use of seat belts and/or or child restraint system and 11 for improper use of a cell phone while driving.

With regard to accident rates, last week the GNR recorded 143 accidentswhich resulted in 3 serious injuries and 22 minor injuries, in addition to material damage to vehicles and infrastructure.

During the week in question, the national security force detained in the Algarve 50 people, highlighting 19 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 10 for driving without a legal license and 5 for drug trafficking.

The GNR also reports that in the same period it seized 56 doses of cocaine, 46 doses of hashish and 1 extendable baton.
