Will Iolanda’s Scream be heard in the final? The first semi-final is this Tuesday and will feature the Portuguese singer.

Another year, more music, more emotions in Europe. This time in Sweden.

The first semi-final of Eurovision Song Contest 2024 takes place this Tuesday, May 7th, in Malmö.

Portugal will be on stage in the first semi-final. Iolanda won the RTP Song Festival in March, and her Shout It will be the penultimate song to appear on television.

It is in the penultimate place in the order of performances and in the second to last place…in betting.

On the eve of the semi-final, we took a look at the bets presented at Eurovision World and saw that, among the 37 participating countries, Portugal appears only in 35th place. He has less than 1% chances of winning the event. Only Moldova and Malta are worse.

A Croatia appears as the big favorite, ahead of Switzerland and Ukraine.

But curiously, because this world of betting has a lot to explain (and often fails, as in 2017), Portugal is not in last or penultimate place for semi-final. It even appears in 9th place, which guarantees presence in the final – the 10 best will qualify. It has a 75% chance of passing, far from the 53% in Australia, ranked 11th.

Iolanda, indifferent to these numbers, says she feels like a Beyonce whenever she sings her Grito – a song that has its “moment in the best possible place” and that mixes “contemporary vibe, electronic, and so on”, according to the singer-songwriter.

The semi-final starts at 8pm this Tuesday. The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is taking place in Sweden because Swedish Loreen was the winner last year.
