The event took place at the Amphitheater Caetano de Santo António and began with speeches by the president of the Pharmacy Student Center of the Academic Association of Coimbra, Carolina Gonçalves and the president of the Association of Former Pharmacy Students, Miguel Silvestre.

The director of FFUC, Fernando Ramos, highlighted that the number of students enrolled at the Faculty of Pharmacy is the highest ever and that this record is due to the vast training offer. It also highlights the entry into operation of two new courses this academic year: the Master’s in Plant-Based Medicines and Food Supplements and the Advanced Specialization Course in Radiopharmacy. The person responsible highlights the pedagogical innovation that attracts the attention of second and third cycle candidates and the inclusion of hybrid teaching rooms in the new infrastructures planned for the Health Sciences Hub.

Fernando Ramos also comments on the conditions of the facilities that are in need of intervention, but that the faculty is dependent on the university’s budget. Still focusing on progress, the president launches an appeal to improve communication and dissemination of the work of researchers and teachers at the Faculty of Pharmacy, so that they can amplify their merit.

This was followed by the intervention of Paulo Barradas Rebelo, president of the Board of Directors of the Bluepharma Group. The guest gave the conference “From Workshop Pharmacy to the Pharmaceutical Industry”. The pharmacist shared a reflection on the profession, gave his professional testimony and praised the Faculty of Pharmacy, highlighting some data.

At the end of the intervention, Paulo Barradas Rebelo was awarded as Ambassador of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Amílcar Falcão, rector of the University of Coimbra and also a graduate in Pharmaceutical Sciences, talks about the hiring of professors that aim to reinforce the university’s training offer and states that we must invest in an innovative future.

Regarding the concerns expressed by the director of the Faculty of Pharmacy regarding infrastructures, the dean assures that by the end of his term he will guarantee significant improvements both in Pole 3 and in the rest of the University.

During the ceremony, there was a moment to award merit distinctions to students who completed the course with the best classification in the 2022/2023 academic year and a tribute to a retired worker from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
