Interpol praised the work of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) in the fight against match fixing, highlighting the Sports Against Match Fixing (SAMF) project as an example of good practice.
“The sport against match-fixing project, funded by the European Union, has given rise to a wealth of original materials aimed at raising awareness of players, athletes and other interested parties to the risks of manipulation of competition in sport, including a comic strip available in ten languages”, says the organization, in its weekly bulletin.
The international criminal police organization sends more detailed information on the topic to the conference promoted by the FPF, in Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, on April 24th.
The SAMF project is highlighted in terms of its main measures, investigations, sentences and good practices in relation to sport.
The SAMF was carried out within the scope of the Erasmus program with the main objective of raising awareness among grassroots athletes about the nature of match and match fixing and the negative impact of this practice on their careers.
Coordinated by the FPF, it took place in partnership with the Malta Football Federation, FIBA-Europe (International Basketball Federation), Lithuanian Football Federation, Sport Evolution Alliance, Stichting European Network for Innovation and Knowledge (EUNIK) and Panathlon Internacional.
