Within the scope of the Eco-Schools Program, the Higher Education School of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (ESE-IPC) marked Eco-Schools Day on May 8, highlighting its commitment to environmental issues and continuous improvement, with the involvement of the community educational.
Since 2019, the Coimbra Higher Education School – ESEC has been distinguished by ABAE (European Blue Flag Association) with the Green Flag, Eco-Schools Award. The Eco-School Program is promoted by the Foundation for Environmental Education, developed in Portugal since 1996, by ABAE – Associação Bandeira Azul da Europa. It should also be noted that in 2022 the Coimbra Higher Education School also received the EcoCampus distinction, referring to the three-year period 2022-2025.
During the morning, the Green Flag was raised, an award given by ABAE for the work carried out in the 2022/2023 academic year, with the presence of the councilor of the Coimbra City Council, Carlos Lopes, the president of ESEC, Rui Antunes and the Eco-Coordinators. During the afternoon, recreational-pedagogical activities were carried out by undergraduate students in Basic Education, with the participation of around 130 students from the 1st Cycle of EB1 at Solum.
