Spring: the flowers bloom, the days become longer, the birds sing louder. The world is brighter and more beautiful, and our desire to be outdoors increases.

Portugal is known for its good weather, and there is no better time to enjoy it than the spring months, we recommend looking for accommodation in Lisbon to start your itinerary in the capital. See the spring activities we chose to visit.

Cherry blossoms, Resende

During the months of March and April, the city of Resende (in the Douro region) promotes guided tours of cherry blossom trees throughout the city. At this time of year, the slopes of the Douro River are covered in a wonderful white layer of cherry blossom trees.

Even if there is no guided tour, you can travel to this beautiful region and see the landscape for yourself. One cruise on the Douro It’s also a great idea.

Paiva Walkways, Arouca

One 8 km natural trail, where you will pass through white waters, waterfalls, river beaches and even a suspension bridge (safe, of course). The beautiful landscapes filled with unique plants and amalgamations of quartz crystals will make the trip worth it.

Sintra

A popular destination, but never overrated. Spring is definitely the best time to visit Sintra, as it is not too hot and there are fewer visitors. There are many attractions here: Pena Palace, Moorish Castle and Quinta da Regaleira are the most popular.

If you only have one day, we recommend that you choose just one: Quinta da Regaleira is, without a doubt, the most beautiful in spring. It’s a difficult climb, but you should try to visit the area completely on foot – it’s worth it. After the descent, you can do a Sintra Pillow as a treat – Piriquita is the best place to do it.

During spring, the streets are filled with flowers and the pleasant weather invites you to visit Óbidos Lagoon, where you can take a boat ride and stroll surrounded by nature. Óbidos is also known for its chocolate delicacies and sweet liqueurs, so be sure to try them while you’re there.

Funchal, Madeira

A perfect mix of nature, city, adventure and relaxation. O Funchal is the capital of Madeira and a popular tourist destination. It’s never too cold, nor too hot, ideal for walking.
