it was diverted to alternative routes, mainly through the villages of Galifonge, Paço and Lustosa.

In March, the president of the Viseu campus of the Piaget Institute, Paulo Alves, lamented to the Lusa agency the delay in the work, which means more travel time for all those who frequent it.

“We have been profoundly limited in access to this campus. I have felt that the president of the Chamber remains committed, but the truth is that the road is closed”, said Paulo Alves.

Operating since 1993, the Piaget Institute in Viseu has an academic community of 600 people.

In July 2021, when launching the competition for the construction of the first phase of this business area, the then mayor of Viseu, Conceição Azevedo, recalled that the municipality defined “as one of its priority axes transforming the municipality into a hub of attractiveness investment, in the field of business competitiveness”.

Conceição Azevedo considered the Lordosa Business Reception Area “fundamental for the dynamism of the north of the municipality, which could thus see an increase in the supply of qualified jobs and the consequent retention of people”.

The contract included, for example, hydraulic infrastructures, a wastewater treatment plant, an accessibility plan, landscape architecture, a health and safety plan and a waste prevention and management plan.

Fernando Ruas also told journalists that the municipality intends to form a protocol with the Piaget Institute to use its Aula Magna. This space will be redeveloped so that it can be used by the community, boosting the northern part of the municipality, where the campus is located (in Galifonge).

“It’s two in one: we’re going to help Piaget recover the Aula Magna and we’re going to have another space available to recommend to institutions,” he explained.
