Viana do Alentejo City Council and Passa Ao Futuro will hold FICO – 2024 Festival of Illustration and Creativity in Pottery, from the 10th to the 12th of May. This is the second edition of the Festival, an annual event that celebrates pottery, culture and innovation. This year, FICO promises to be an engaging experience for creativity lovers of all ages. And it will bring together illustrators, designers, young ceramists, artisans and pottery enthusiasts for a series of activities and an exhibition curated by Mantraste (Bruno Reis Santos).

The activity program includes:

– Painted Pottery Exhibition: A “cycle exhibition”, which brings together traditional pieces by potters that inspired the program of creative residencies promoted in previous years by Passa Ao Futuro with works created by renowned and emerging illustrators who participated in this same program, as well as more recent pieces from traditional potters but, in turn, inspired by the work of illustrators. The different styles and techniques on display stand out.

– Creative Workshops: Practical activities to experience working with ceramic molds, clay painting, and paper kiln.

– Ceramics and Pottery Fair: A vibrant fair where visitors can purchase unique pieces of handcrafted ceramics and pottery, both traditional and contemporary by Antónia Labaredas, Inês Prats, Olaria Mira Agostinho, among others.

Furthermore, 3 illustrators from the first edition of the creative residencies organized by Passa Ao Futuro – Mantraste, Mariana Malhão and Mariana a Miserável -, will paint commemorative plates at Oficina Mira Agostinho, and can be visited during the event (more information attached).

FICO will be held in emblematic locations in Viana do Alentejo, such as Praça da República, the old Library and the Castle.

Entry will be free and details about the full program will be announced soon on Passa Ao Futuro’s social networks and on the Municipality of Viana do Alentejo website.
