The inhabitants of the town of Nogueirinha, parish of Meruge, municipality of Oliveira do Hospital, demand a “reinforcement of electrical power”. At stake are constraints felt “for years” such as “voltage drops” that have even caused damage to domestic equipment. This problem led the population to come forward with a petition with 75 signatures.
The topic was brought up this morning at the public meeting of the municipal executive of Oliveira do Hospital by João Abreu, president of the Meruge Parish Council, who was accompanied by some injured parties. According to the mayor, “the electrical power serving the population of Nogueirinha is at its limit”. Considering that “the Parish Council does not have its own means to respond to this problem”, João Abreu appeals to “the commitment” of the Municipality so that, together with E-Redes, a solution can be found, such as “placing a new PT ( Transformation Point)”.
“There are often voltage drops, especially in sunnier areas. It is an inconvenience for the inhabitants”, she stated, adding that “there has already been material damage to domestic equipment”.
In response, José Francisco Rolo soon defended that the population “has every right to have this essential good”. The President of the Municipality added that “the topic has been discussed with the Parish Support Office” and that, in October 2023, “an email was sent to E-Redes requesting rapid intervention”.
According to the mayor, the electricity supplier said that “the PT is far from capacity limits and other problems such as voltage drops may be occurring”. In the communication, E-Redes also states that “the areas to carry out the assessment must be identified”.
“It’s a non-answer”, considered João Abreu, even stating that “E-Redes is escaping its responsibilities”.
