The exhibition results from the work of surveying and mapping the species of invasive exotic plants that inhabit the delicate ecosystem of Pateira de Frossos, carried out by Tiago Laranjo, Biology student at the University of Coimbra.

The aim is to explore the sixteen invasive species identified, in terms of distribution and characterization, as well as to raise awareness among visitors about the threats they pose to the ecological balance of Pateira and the importance of controlling their spread.

The project from which this exhibition is the result took place in the summer of 2023, within the scope of the Ocupação de Tempos Livres program of IPDJ – Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, IP, under the coordination of the BioLiving Association, which is organizing the exhibition together with the Centro de Interpretation of Pateira de Frossos.

This event takes place within the scope of the Week on Invasive Species 2024: Portugal & Spain, promoted by the Portuguese Network for the Study and Management of Invasive Species – Rede InvECO, by the INVASORAS.PT platform (Invasive Species in Portugal), by the projects LIFE COOP Cortaderia and LIFE INVASAQUA and the Biological Invasion Specialist Group.
