Marking Europe Day, ALGARVE 2030 today presents LEGOS 2.0, an innovation and social inclusion project

On the day we celebrate Europewith the purpose of responding to problems identified at regional level and in alignment with European priorities in terms of social rights and other horizontal principles, programming was defined in the ALGARVE 2030 whose goals in terms of employment, qualifications and social inclusion aim to achieve an Algarve with more qualified citizens, but also more social and inclusive.

According to CCDR Algarve, support for employment, business skills and promotion of qualified employment are the instruments available to the ALGARVE 2030 to promote access to employment and the adaptation of workers, companies and entrepreneurs to change.

Within the scope of ALGARVE 2030, advanced higher education, the (re)qualification of adults and the quality of the education and training system make up the domain of qualifications, with the aim of promoting equal access, inclusive education and training and quality, reinforcing lifelong learning and the requalification and improvement of skills.

The field of social inclusion, reinforced in this programming period by 8 million euros (now reaching an ESF+ allocation of 33 million euros), operates at the level of active participation, equal opportunities and non-discrimination, social innovation and quality of services, with the purpose of social integration of vulnerable groups, namely the homeless population.

It is in this context that ALGARVE 2030 finances the Project LEGOS 2.0., which will be presented today, May 9th, at 10:00 am, at the CCDR Algarve headquarters building, as part of the celebrations of the Europe Day.

According to CCDR Algave, the Term of Acceptance of the candidacy, coordinated by MAPS – Movement to Support AIDS Problems, has already been signed to support people experiencing homelessness, with funding of 1.2 million euros from the Social Fund European Plus.

The operation, which will run until the end of 2026, is carried out in partnership with the GATO – Help Group for Drug Addicts It is like CASA – Support Center for the Homeless and covers the municipalities of Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira, Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António, intervening with 744 homeless people in the Algarve region. Focusing on the person, this operation designs individual life plans, developing social, emotional and professional skills.

This continues a concerted approach to promoting active inclusion and combating poverty strategies, built in close collaboration with municipalities and the government area of ​​work and social security, designing a different, innovative and challenging response to traditional processes, capable of to promote intervention and social and professional integration of homeless people, pursuing the objectives of public policies and the new focus of the National Strategy for the Integration of Homeless People 2025-2030.
