A “signed petition” with 174 signatures from inhabitants of the Union of Parishes of Ervedal and Vila Franca da Beira, in the municipality of Oliveira do Hospital, was addressed to local authorities, to the Personalized Health Care Unit (UCSP) of Oliveira do Hospital and the extinct Regional Health Administration of the Center demanding the placement of a family doctor in the Health Extension of Ervedal da Beira

In the letter that has João Dinis, mayor of the Parish Assembly, as the first subscriber “in an act of solidarity” with the users of the Parish Union, which he estimates to be in the order of 1500, the signatories express “their dissatisfaction at not having a doctor of family” in Health Extension, a situation that they consider “unsustainable” and that “penalizes local users and violates their rights, especially within the scope of the National Health Service”.

Through the “signed petition”, the population demands the “placement of a family doctor and the integration of the respective users into the situation of users with a family doctor”.

In the communication he addressed to the Boa Nova Radio, João Dinis considers that “the lack of family doctors in this area of health is a recurring problem that is taking a long time to be resolved”. He states that “this is the second “petition” of its kind to be circulated among the population”. “We therefore demand that we be heard and respected in this fair claim”, he maintains.

João Dinis also recalls that “the newly constructed building of this Health Extension cost more than 400 thousand euros shared between the Ministry of Health and the Municipal Council of Oliveira do Hospital”.
