The Longos Parish Council is organizing this weekend – the 11th and 12th of May – another edition of the Feira da Terra, an event that brings together the community through the various associations in the parish, with a vast lineup that lasts for two days , Saturday and Sunday. The event was initially scheduled for the weekend in May, but was postponed due to the weather conditions that occurred at the time.
Taking place at Escola EB 1 de Longos as the stage, the opening is scheduled for 3 pm on Saturday, with an exhibition of classic cars, a food court, sales of local products and even musical entertainment. In the evening, the food court and the sale of local products continue, with entertainment from Bento Batista, Carlos Ribeiro, Tino de Rans, Who is laughing now, don giovanni and Academia Nokaute Dança.
On Sunday, in the morning, a Solidarity Walk and a Pilates Class will be held, organized by the Braços d’Afetos Association. In the afternoon, the program once again includes an exhibition of classic cars, a food court, sale of local products and musical entertainment, an offer that is joined by the performance of Meninas de Dança de Longos, the Grupo Folclórica de Longos and musical performance by Associação Braços d’Afetos. The Poio Game will take place in the afternoon. The closing of the Feira da Terra de Longos is scheduled for 6 pm on Sunday, and this organization by the Longos Parish Council has the support of the Guimarães City Council.
Isilda Silva, president of the Longos Parish Council, highlights the “community nature” of this initiative, which “involves the community through the participation of all associations in the parish, which participate in the fair”, he explains. Furthermore, Isilda Ferreira also adds that “most of the people we have here selling their products are from the parish” and “everything comes free of charge so that you can have a good time in the community and with entertainment”.
