The Presidential Train opened the 2024 season. The first passengers have already had the opportunity to enjoy a unique and memorable experience aboard a true museum piece.
The round trip between Porto Station – São Bento and Vargelas was marked by a combination of luxury, refinement, exclusivity, good food, wines and the beautiful landscapes of the Douro.
Participants also had the privilege of making an exclusive visit to Quinta de Vargelas – the birthplace of Taylor’s wines – and tasting its famous Port wines, of recognized quality and excellence, on site. They also witnessed the opening of a Vintage Port by fire, in an unforgettable ritual.
Remember that this project brings together CP – Comboios de Portugal, the National Railway Museum Foundation and Chef Chakall. The Presidential Train 2024 promises to be a mobile ambassador of the Douro, bringing the soul, food, wine and stories of this unique region into its carriages. The mission is to ensure that each passenger not only travels through the Douro, but experiences, feels and lives the region in all its dimensions.
The immersive journeys in this real museum on rails continue this weekend and will be repeated on the 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, 30th and 31st of May. On board, passengers can taste dishes, prepared by Chef Chakall, that reflect the rich cuisine of the Douro, with each trip bringing a main dish prepared by a local chef, renowned for his specialty and not for the glamor of the restaurant.
