The workers of Transportes Sul do Tejo (TST) decided, this Thursday, May 9th, in a plenary session at the Cacilhas Volunteer Firefighters (BV Cacilhas) facilities, to maintain the strike scheduled for May 28th and to strike for two days each month , on dates to be defined, union source told Lusa agency.

“There were very few TST buses that circulated today, because the participation was almost total, which later translated into a strong participation in the plenary that took place at the Cacilhas Fire Department, which did not fit into the auditorium where it was initially scheduled.”, it can be read on the Fectrans website.

In the approved conclusions, it was reaffirmed “the demand for continued negotiations with the evolution of the administration’s proposal and that if there are no significant changes, on May 28th they will be on strike again.”

Adherence to the 24-hour strike by TST workers, which operates area 3 of the Carris Metropolitana road network corresponding to Almada, Seixal and Sesimbra, “was around 90 to 95% at 8:15 am this Thursday”, he declared to the Lusa agency , the same union source.

“There are parks where not a single bus left. There was no response from the administration regarding the increase proposal defended by the workers, so the fight continues”, declared Sara Gligo, leader of the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans).

Sara Gligo said that “the strike was scheduled after the company applied a salary increase of 5.89% and a new meal allowance of 6.78 euros.”, not approaching the values claimed by the workers, of a minimum salary increase of 80 euros and 9.60 euros meal allowance, as well as better working conditions.

At the time, the union informed the transport company about the rejection of the company’s proposal in the plenary session on April 15th, thus seeking to reach a balanced value between the two parties. However, two days later, the company informed that it would apply an increase in the amounts mentioned above, “which for some workers no longer represents 60 euros in salary”, and a meal allowance worth 6.78 euros in cash.

Sara Gligo also added that the decision taken by workers at the plenary session held on May 9th will now be communicated to the company.
